Como hacer Flats para principiantes - How to do Flats for begginers

Buenas, mi nombre es Alexander y este tutorial es para aquellos principiantes en el arte de Colorear Comics.
Hi, my name is Alexander Tobler and this tutorial is for those who are begginers in the art of Coloring Comics.

Estos pasos siguen mi forma de Flatear una imagen, para aquellos que no saben lo que son los Flats. Es el primer paso en el coloreo, seleccionas las diferentes partes de la imagen dandole diferentes valores, para asi en los siguientes procesos puedas de manera rapida terminar la imagen.
Ok, this steps follow my personal way of flatting a picture, for those of you who dont know what flats are, flats are the first thing you have to do in coloring comics. You select the different parts of the picture giving different Values, so the next steps are easier to finish y so it looks more pro.

1 - Abres la imagen que desees colorear, en mi caso Spiderman.
Te van a aparecer dos capas, el dibujo y el fondo.
1- Open the picture you want to color, in my case Spiderman. Its gonna show two layers, the draw and the background.

2-Seleccionas en la capa de dibujo la modalidad Multiply, asi de esta forma puedes trabajar en una capa por debajo sin afectar las lineas de dibujo.
2-Select the layer of the lineart and put it in Multiply, that way you can work in a layer under the lineart and not coloring the draw
3- Eliges un valor para la capa Fondo o Background. Mi eleccion es de 50% negro.
3-Choose a Value for the layer Background, my choice is of 50% Black


4- Ahora seleccionas la herramienta que esta en la imagen, o presionas "G" y pintas la capa Fondo con el valor elegido previamente.
4-Choose the tool that is on the picture, or press "G" and fill the layer with the value you choose.

5-El proximo paso es seleccionar la herramienta Lazo Poligonal, y hacer la seleccion de un objeto en la pagina, en este caso Spiderman. Siempre es conveniente empezar del fondo hacia adelante.. ya que de esa forma te ahorras y tiempo y le das una mejor terminacion.
5-The next step is to select the tool Polygonal Lasso, and make the selection of an object in the page, in this case Spiderman. Always is better to start from the background and go foward.. this way you save time and give a better look.
6-Una vez ya seleccionado el objeto, personaje, fondo, etc. Le aplicas un valor diferente al del fondo. Yo utilizo la herramienta Hue/Saturation, ya que me es mas rapido. La puedes seleccionar con Ctrl + U, o puedes seleccionarla por la ventana en Imagen>Ajustes>Hue/Saturarion.
6-Once the object, character, background, etc is selected. you put a different value to the background. I use the tool Hue/Saturation, its more fast for me. You can select it with Ctrl + U, or you can select it by the window at Image>Adjustment>Hue/Saturation.

7-Una vez hecho los pasos anteriores, sigues con el mismo proceso seleccionando diferentes cosas como por ej: los ojos, y le aplicas un valor diferente.
7-Once that you done al the previous steps, you keep repeating the same process, selecting different things for ex, the eyes. and you put a different value on each one.
8-Una vez terminado, se tendria que ver algo como esto.
8-Once its finished, it would have to look something like this.
9- Despues que tienes los Flats terminados, copias la capa de Flats en que lo hayas hecho apretando Ctrl + A seleccionas toda la capa, y luego la copias.
Mas abajo en la ventana de canales, apretas el boton que esta remarcado y pegas los flats dentro.
Asi te sera mas facil seleccionar los Flats en el futuro.
9-Now you have the Flats done, have to copy the flat layer in wich you done it. Pressing Ctrl + A you select all the layer, and then paste it. Below in the channel window, press the button wich its remarked and paste the flats inside.
that way its gonna be more easier in the future to select the flats.
